Student Assessment

We review the student’s background, research interests, goals, and timeline.

02

Lab Strategy

We identify possible pathways based on fit, location, age, and lab availability.

03

Application Support

We help develop and refine key materials, including resume/CV, cover letter, personal statement, and tailored outreach communication.

04

Outreach

We guide and support outreach to suitable labs, including strategy, communication, and response tracking.

05

Next Steps

If a connection is made, we help guide the student and family through the transition.

University Placement Labs

Students apply to selected university labs with guided preparation and outreach support. Outcomes may include shadowing, observation, or short-term lab access depending on the professor, age requirements, and lab availability.

EARLY ACCESS

Eureka-Run Lab Program

A structured small-group program developed by the Eureka Program in collaboration with researchers. This pathway is in development and is designed to offer guided lab exposure, research learning, and flexible hybrid formats.

Building Research Depth Across Multiple Environments

STUDENT PATHWAY

Research mentorship to lab exposure to global collaboration

FIELD

Astrophysics and Materials Science

EXPERIENCE TYPE

Research projects, virtual lab work, and in-person exposure

KEY OUTCOME

Advanced research experience across multiple institutions

This student began with a strong interest in engineering, supported by early hands-on work in robotics and 3D printing.

Through the program, she completed two research projects with university mentors, one in astrophysics and one in materials science. In her first project, she worked with real observational data and participated in a remote telescope session connected to a research facility in Chile. In her second, she analyzed experimental lab data and developed a research paper that was later published.

She also expanded her experience beyond structured projects. She visited a professor’s lab at MIT and later joined a remote research effort connected to work in Chile, gaining exposure to how research operates across different environments.

By connecting these experiences, she developed strong skills in research, data analysis, and scientific writing, while building a clear academic direction.

Her work became a central part of her academic profile, contributing to admission offers from several top universities, including MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Tufts, Cornell, and the University of Michigan.

Guided Pathway to Lab Exposure

STUDENT PATHWAY

Research preparation to targeted outreach

FIELD

Biology / Neuroscience

EXPERIENCE TYPE

Shadowing and lab exposure

KEY OUTCOME

Connection to a university lab environment

A student interested in biology began by building a foundation through guided research and independent study.

After developing a clearer focus, the student prepared outreach materials and identified labs aligned with their interests.

Through targeted outreach, the student connected with a university lab and was invited to observe the research environment.

This experience provided exposure to lab workflows and helped the student better understand how research is conducted in practice.

CASE STUDY

School Program as a Platform

STUDENT PATHWAY

School research program to professor outreach

FIELD

Biology and Life Sciences

EXPERIENCE TYPE

Lab internship

KEY OUTCOME

Opportunity secured through initiative and academic positioning

A student participated in a school research program that provided structure but did not directly place students into labs.

Using this experience as a foundation, the student independently reached out to professors whose work matched their interests.

After making contact and demonstrating academic preparation, the student was accepted into a lab.

This pathway shows how structured programs can support access, but success still depends on student initiative and timing.

CASE STUDY

Relationship-Based Lab Access

STUDENT PATHWAY

Mentor relationship to lab access

FIELD

Environmental Science and Biology

EXPERIENCE TYPE

Lab exposure and informal research experience

KEY OUTCOME

Direct lab access through an existing relationship

A student worked closely with a professor during a prior research experience and developed a strong academic relationship.

After completing the project, the student expressed interest in visiting the lab in person.

The professor agreed, and the student was able to spend time in the lab environment and observe ongoing work.

This opportunity came naturally from the strength of the relationship rather than a formal application process.

CASE STUDY

School Program as an Informal Lab Visit Through Networking

STUDENT PATHWAY

Academic connection to lab visit

FIELD

Neuroscience and Medical Research

EXPERIENCE TYPE

Lab visit and observational exposure

KEY OUTCOME

Exposure to a real research environment

A student was introduced to a research lab through a PhD-level academic connection.

This was not a formal internship, but an opportunity to visit the lab for a short period.

During the visit, the student observed the research environment and gained insight into how the lab operates.

Although brief, the experience provided valuable exposure and helped the student better understand future academic possibilities.

CASE STUDY

Direct Outreach and Initiative

STUDENT PATHWAY

Independent outreach to university labs

FIELD

Immunology and Biomedical Research

EXPERIENCE TYPE

Virtual lab exposure and campus visits

KEY OUTCOME

Lab opportunities secured through preparation and direct outreach

A student with a clear research interest prepared outreach materials and independently contacted professors whose work aligned with their goals. With guidance on positioning and communication, the student was able to connect with multiple researchers and secure both virtual lab exposure and in-person campus visits.

These experiences allowed the student to observe research environments, engage with ongoing work, and better understand how different labs operate. This pathway was not based on a formal program or placement, but on preparation, timing, and initiative, demonstrating how direct outreach can lead to meaningful research opportunities.
