Our Approach
Helping Young Scientists Communicate with Confidence
Effective communication is essential to success across scientific, academic, and professional fields. We know that even the brightest students can find it challenging to express what they know. That’s why the Eureka Program created the Mock Interview Program.
Our goal is to help young scientists become effective and confident communicators. Our approach builds critical thinking, clarity, and purpose, helping students express their ideas with confidence and communicate their work with impact.
Modeled After Real Interviews
Students practice in realistic interview settings with experienced mentors, mirroring how scientists and applicants present their ideas.
Focused on Communication, Not Memorization
We guide students to think aloud, reason through questions, and explain concepts in their own words rather than rehearsed answers.
Feedback That Builds Confidence
Every session includes clear, personalized feedback to help students refine how they speak, structure responses, and express complex ideas.

FAQ
Everything you need to know before your mock interview.
Who can attend?
If you’re a high school student preparing for an academic interview, this program is for you. We welcome students from all academic backgrounds, whether they are preparing for university admissions interviews, STEM fairs, or other academic presentations. Our program is designed to help any motivated student strengthen their communication and presentation skills. All sessions are conducted online, making them accessible to students anywhere in the world. No matter your field of study or location, you can join and benefit from the guidance of our experienced mentors.
How much does it cost?
Our sessions are priced simply and transparently, no hidden fees or subscriptions. You can find the prices in the Prices section of this page. Each Mock Interview includes a live mock interview session, written feedback, and practice tips to help you improve.
How long is each session?
We model the session after the format and timing of a real interview. Most mock interviews typically last around 30-60 minutes and include a short introduction, a full mock interview, a Q&A segment, and a closing discussion with verbal feedback. This structure helps students experience the complete flow of an authentic interview from start to finish. The full structure of the interview can be found in the pricing section.
What does the evaluation include? How soon will I receive it after my interview?
Our evaluations go beyond a score. You will receive a structured written report within 48 hours. The feedback highlights your strengths, clarity of communication, and presentation style. It also includes constructive suggestions and practice tips for continued growth. This makes every session a learning experience you can apply immediately.
Do you offer poster and presentation tutoring for STEM fairs?
Yes! We offer poster and presentation guidance as a separate service for STEM fairs. These sessions support students at any stage, including those who have not started their poster yet. Our mentors provide structured guidance on poster layout, content, clarity, and presentation flow, but do not edit or create materials for students.
What presentation formats do you provide guidance for?
We provide guidance for both science posters and PowerPoint (PPT) presentations, depending on the requirements of the competition or program. Some STEM fairs, such as Regeneron ISEF, require a science poster, while others, including competitions like the S.-T. Yau High School Science Award, use a PowerPoint presentation. Our mentors tailor their feedback to the format you are using and the expectations of your specific event. Guidance focuses on structure, clarity, scientific messaging, and how to present your work effectively. Mentors do not create or edit materials but help you improve your own poster or slides.
Will receiving guidance from Eureka affect my competition eligibility?
No. Receiving guidance through Eureka’s mock interviews or poster and PPT guidance does not affect eligibility for Regeneron ISEF or most affiliated regional and state fairs, as long as the work remains the student’s own. Our mentors do not create, edit, or contribute content to student projects, posters, or presentations. Instead, they provide feedback, ask questions, and offer general guidance to help students improve clarity, organization, and communication, similar to feedback from teachers or judges during practice sessions. Students are always responsible for completing and presenting their own work. We also encourage students to review the specific rules of their affiliated fair, as some fairs may have stricter guidelines than ISEF.
Who are the interviewers?
Our interviewers include PhD students, PhD candidates, Postdoctoral researchers, Professors and experienced mentors from leading universities. Each interviewer is carefully matched to the student’s subject area to provide relevant and meaningful feedback. This ensures the discussion feels natural, with questions and insights that align closely with the student’s research or field of interest. Working with mentors who truly understand your topic helps you refine not just what you say, but how you explain it.
Will I receive a recording of my interview?
At the moment, we focus on detailed written evaluations. In the future, students may also receive recordings for review and reflection.
Can I reinterview?
Yes, in fact many students do. Reinterviewing is a great way to build confidence, apply previous feedback, and see measurable improvement in your communication and delivery. You can reinterview anytime, choosing a new mentor or topic if you wish. Each session helps you progress one step closer to clear, confident communication.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Preparation helps students get the most from their session. For STEM Fair interviews, students should provide a project abstract for the interviewer to review and should have already started or completed their project. For University Admissions interviews, students should review the university’s website to understand the interview process and possible questions, as these vary between institutions. Students must also submit a copy of their personal statement or application essay so the mock interviewer can better understand their background, goals, and academic interests. We also recommend that all students rehearse their presentations in advance and become comfortable with their material before the scheduled interview.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
We understand that plans can change, and we aim to be flexible while respecting the time of our interviewers, who maintain active academic and research schedules. Students may cancel or reschedule their mock interview at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time for a full refund or session credit. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance are not eligible for a refund, as interviewers have already reserved that time for the student. If a student does not attend their scheduled interview without prior notice, the session will be considered completed, and no refund or reschedule will be provided. To cancel or reschedule, students should email info@eurekaprogram.com so that our team can verify and process the change. Eureka reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a session in the event of interviewer unavailability or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, students will be notified promptly and offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
