Intro to Research Program

Program Overview

The Eureka Intro to Research Program is designed for middle school and high school students who are ready to begin independent research but need structured research guidance to develop and design a research project.

In this program, students work closely with Master’s-level instructors, PhD students, and PhD candidates to explore their academic interests, refine a focused research question, and design a feasible research project. The program emphasizes learning how to move from an initial idea to a clear research plan, building a strong foundation for academic research.

Program Core Focus

The primary focus of the Intro to Research Program is helping students:

• Narrow broad interests into clear, researchable questions

• Understand what makes a strong research topic

• Design a realistic and well-structured research plan

This process helps students think critically about their topic before moving into deeper research work.

Program Structure

Students collaborate with their mentor through regular sessions focused on:

• Early-stage data collection or analysis

• Academic writing and revision

While topic development is the central emphasis, students are guided through the research process with the goal of completing a full research paper or project report by the end of the program.

Program Outcome

By the end of the program, students complete a structured research paper that reflects a well-developed research topic, thoughtful research design, and independent academic work guided by mentor feedback.

Program Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate strong English reading, writing, and communication skills, along with curiosity and motivation to engage in independent research. Students may enter the program with a general area of interest or an early idea, which will be refined and developed throughout the program. All applications are reviewed by the Eureka Admissions Team to ensure appropriate mentor matching and program fit.
