Risk Management Intern - Steel Partners Holdings
Eureka Alumni from this program have received admission offers to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Yale University, Cornell University, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), University of Chicago, and other top US universities. Alumni from this program have gone off to pursue studies in Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, and other majors.
The research experience and skills students receive at the Eureka Program have helped students get accepted to prestigious programs such as the Stanford Summer Humanities Institute, the Summer Research Mentorship Program, UC Santa Barbara, and the Brown University X+VR Summer Program. Several students that have completed this program have also participated in famous competitions, such as the Regeneron Science Talent Search.
In addition, we are proud to see students in this program actively participating in the community, volunteering where possible. Several of our students have founded non-profit organizations to help their local community. Two siblings that attended this program have started a non-profit organization helping to promote cultural awareness for children in their local communities by providing their local libraries with a wider range of cultural children's books. Another student volunteered his spare time during the COVID-19 pandemic to collect and donate face masks to her community.
The below sections will provide more insight into the students that have attended this program and share their experiences and successes.

When attending the Eureka Program, Student W.* worked with a Brown University Professor of Computer Science to complete research in Virtual Reality (VR). She later attended the Brown University X+VR Summer School, which is a program that provides an opportunity for high school students to explore the intersections of virtual reality (VR) and other fields such as art, science, and social justice. Through a combination of lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects, students learn about VR technologies and their applications while also developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Student W. is currently studying at Tandon School of Engineering at New York University (NYU).
Student Q.* completed research with a Dartmouth University Professor of computer science to study how Meditation can Reduce Task-Oriented Frustration with the use of a Brain Sensing Headband. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is a United Nations agency established in 1972 to promote sustainable development and address global environmental challenges. UNEP works to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. Student Q.* is currently studying Artificial Intelligence at the University of California - Berkeley (UCB).
When attending the Eureka Technology and Engineering Program, Susan worked with a Dartmouth Professor of Computer Science to complete a research project that aimed to examine the short-term impact of instructors' test-related expectations on students' academic success by analyzing their confidence, mental activity, and immediate test scores. Her experiment conducted with nine participants showed that students who received high-anticipation comments tended to generate stronger EEG gamma waves, which indicated more intense mental activity and experience higher levels of confidence. As a young scholar, Susan has completed numerous research projects, one of which earned her recognition as a 2022 Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar among 300 other students. Her achievements have led her to get accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she will study neuroscience, computer science, or biomedical engineering. Congratulations Susan on your achievements!

China Thinks Big is a research-based social entrepreneurship competition held by Harvard University organizations in China, modeled after Harvard's own Harvard Thinks Big. Thousands of high school students participate each year, and participants learn to initiate and complete independent research projects across various subjects under the guidance of top universities and judges. The program has had a significant impact, with participants' work being developed into articles, policy papers, and social initiatives covered by national media outlets. Student H.*, who attended the Technology and Engineering Program at Eureka participated in this conference and was a Global Finalist (Top 5%).

The Public Benefit International Challenge for Youth (PBIC) 2020 is a global competition that motivates young people to address worldwide problems and advance social innovation. This program welcomes project proposals from all over the world that focus on topics like environmental protection, poverty reduction, healthcare, and education. The competition aims to foster socially conscious leaders among young people and encourage them to create a positive influence on society. Student H.*, who completed a research on how Meditation can increase Concentration while at Eureka, finished in the PBIC 2020 in First Place and received a full scholarship to Germany!
