Game Theory Program

Program Overview

Game theory is a branch of mathematics that deals with the analysis of strategic decision-making. It is used to study the behavior of individuals, groups, and organizations in situations where the outcome of one person's decision depends on the decisions of others.

In game theory, a "game" is a situation where two or more players must make decisions that will affect each other's outcomes. Each player has a set of possible choices, and the outcome of the game depends on the choices made by all the players.

Game Theory Program

Eureka Alumni from this program have received admission offers to Princeton University, Duke University, University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, and other top US universities. Alumni from this program have gone off to pursue studies in  Computer Science, Economics, Math, and other majors.

Many students that have participated in this program also participated in famous competitions and received multiple awards, such as in prestigious Economic & Financial Modeling competions, National Merit Scholarship, Allan J Gauthier Mathematics Award, among others.

In addition, we are proud to see students in this program actively participating in the community,  volunteering where possible.  Several of our students have founded non-profit organizations to help their local community. 1 student planned a 1 month volunteering program in Xiangxi, Hunan Province, to teach Primary 1 to 5 students English.

The below sections will provide more insight into the students that have attended this program and share their experiences and successes.

Game Theory Model in Urban Development and Extension to Tragedy of Commons

Game theoretical models can be applied in many areas. City sustainability and strategy for street and community development is an important problem that people should care about because of the overdeveloping trend in many places worldwide. When considering the strategy that stakeholders are likely to make, game theoretical models can be introduced. Along with the analysis, the Prisoner's Dilemma model can explore the way decision-makers choose their strategy. The overdevelopment problem caused a classical phenomenon proposed by Hardin, the tragedy of the commons. The author of this thesis conducted this study in Eureka's Game Theory program.
